NDIS Supported Independent Living
A Home That Still Feels Like Theirs, With the Backup They Need
Moving into supported independent living is not just a practical change.
It can feel like a huge emotional milestone, for you, and for the person you love!
Stone approaches independent living as a moral responsibility. Care comes first, dignity stays front and centre, with family and community involvement always welcomed and respected.
Support is here to strengthen the home, not take it over.
Choice stays with the person, and carers follow their routines, preferences, and house rules.
Stone's approach to independent living...
It's a moral responsibility.
1
Care comes first
2
Dignity stays front and centre
3
Family involvement is always welcomed and respected.
Support is there to strengthen the home, not take it over. Choice stays with your loved one receiving care, and carers follow their routines, preferences, and house rules.
Daily Help That Fits Into Their Life
Without Taking It Over
Good supported independent living should feel supportive, not controlling.
The goal is simple: the right help shows up at the right times, so life feels steadier, safer, and more independent.
NDIS SIL (Supported Independent Living) covers support or supervision at home for day-to-day tasks, including overnight support where needed.
Stone tailors this support to the person receiving care, not to a generic roster.
Onboarding builds around real-life needs and preferences, so support feels useful, respectful, and consistent.
You and Your Loved One Set the House Rules, We Provide the Carers to Follow Them
Independence means the home still feels like your home.
Routines, boundaries, privacy, and the “way things are done” should be led by your loved one receiving the care. Stone supports true choice and control in everyday ways, like
Choosing how mornings and evenings run
Deciding what meals look like
Setting expectations around noise, visitors, and personal space
Keeping cultural identity and family preferences respected in the home
Different people want different independent living options.
Stone can support SIL in a home already owned and loved, or in one of Stone’s homes, depending on what suits the person best.
Some homes are social, with shared meals, outings, and movie nights. Some homes are quieter, with more privacy and space.
Either way, Stone’s role as a SIL provider is to support the home with the right carers, without taking it over.

What Your Funding Covers, and What It Doesn’t
Money talk can get stressful fast, especially when a home is involved. Clear expectations help everyone breathe a little easier.
SIL funding covers the paid support in the home, like the support workers and staffing that help daily life run smoothly.
Depending on the person’s needs, support can include:
- Help with personal care routines, like mornings and evenings
- Support with meals (planning, prep, and prompting)
- Help keeping the home clean and organised
- Support to build daily living skills, like cooking, budgeting, and household routines
- Medication prompting or supervision (where this is agreed)
- Overnight support or active overnight supervision, if required
SIL funding does not cover everyday living costs, such as:
- Rent, board, or lodging
- Groceries
- Vehicle costs
- Utilities (electricity, gas, water), and internet/phone
Stone treats your NDIS budgets with real respect. Spending stays focused on quality support, and families get clear, transparent updates.
Plan management can also take the pressure off. Plan managers claim and pay invoices after support is delivered, so the money side stays cleaner and easier to track.
